Weight Loss Injection (Mounjaro) Update

In Hampshire and the Isle of Wight around 1,000 people currently qualify for the injectable weight loss medication based on national eligibility criteria – The NHS is working to set up services quickly, however this it will not be available locally until later this year (Autumn).

Please do not contact your GP just yet as we are currently unable to prescribe these injections.

Access will be prioritised for those with the greatest clinical need, it is for people living with obesity, in poor health with multiple obesity related conditions; as they would benefit most from the treatment.

*Who will be eligible?*

- Aged 18 years or older

- Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40+, or 37.5+ if you are from a Black, Asian or other minority ethnic background

- Diagnosed with four or more weight-related health conditions, such as:
· Type 2 diabetes
· High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)
· Heart Disease
· Obstructive sleep apnoea
· Dyslipidaemia
