Parkinson’s Awareness Week in the U.K. is an annual occasion that begins the day before World Parkinson’s Day. The campaign is to raise awareness across the U.K. and provide support to those living with the condition. Parkinson’s is a rare nervous system disorder that affects movement. The symptoms start gradually in middle-aged and old people. The symptoms could sometimes be a barely noticeable tremor in one hand. There is no cure for Parkinson’s disease. This is why it is so important to raise awareness and fundraising for research and treatment.

World Parkinson's Day started in 1997 to honour Dr James Parkinson. He was a English surgeon who first identified the disease 200 years ago. Today, in the UK, a full week is dedicated to celebrating Parkinson's Awareness Week.
